Description
Pat K7GUD is no stranger to the backcountry, but is relatively new to Ham Radio.  Pat has been Hiking, Backpacking, Climbing, Skiing, and participating in many other outdoor activities for nearly his whole life.  He writes on his QRZ page, "I've been a hiker and climber a lot longer than I've been a ham, so the "Summits" part was pretty natural. I already have all the gear I need for lightweight backcountry travel.  The "on the Air" part was a little more difficult. But thanks to the many great YouTube videos about POTA and SOTA and portable operation, I was able to sort out what I needed to get started. Pat has a great "new ham" perspective, and is an excellent communicator.  If you are new to ham radio and want to start operating portable, you won't want to miss what Pat has to say in this episode of the All Portable Discussion Zone.  If you already operate portable you'll find Pat's journey fascinating. Join us as we talk about how YOU can improve your SOTA experience in this episode of the All Portable Discussion Zone “AP/DZ”. Every aspect of Portable Ops is explored in this biweekly live stream as we discuss news, gear, achievements, the workbench, contests, awards and more - find all Portable Ops related topics here.
