“I love to listen to excited book readers. However, I don’t think it’s outrageous to expect that two intelligent (and they are) women who grew up in the 80’s and love to read would know how to use language without every other word sounding like an 80’s movie: “like … like … like.” Also, there’s a little bit of common sense missing when it comes to pitch of voice when you’re recording something that will be in people’s ears and on their speakers. I can’t underrate this podcast though, they did review a vast range of books and I will, no doubt, enjoy reading a few. I’d say it’s a far cry from the boring “mmm … interesting … pause … and I really enjoyed the sort of blah blah blah … about how this author … “ but not quite on the mark for avid literary readers. I wouldn’t take my word for it. You may find this is just the right eclectic mix of suggestions and not mind the style of these two, who definitely have a great rapport as a vocal pair in discussion riffing off each other’s book finds.”
