“I’ve been listening to your podcast and have been moved by its raw emotion. God knows such a podcast is sorely needed. I founded and facilitated the Bereavement Group at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for seven years and one thing I learned is that we Americans do not do death well. The misconceptions and myths around grief are mind boggling and possibly even harmful. In my group there were people, just like you, who had lost a loved one to suicide. One book they found helpful was “Bruised and Wounded:Struggling to Understand Suicide” by Ronald Rolheiser who is a Catholic priest, an internationally renowned speaker and spiritual writer whose books appeal to anyone seeking or already on a spiritual path. Rolheiser addresses one’s brokenness and despair without judgment or blame. His is a language of gift, not pathology or criticism. Perhaps it might help you and your listeners transcend their pain. Anyway, that is my wish.”
