“I really enjoy the nostalgia of this AG podcast, and the hosts definitely know their history. As a teacher with a focus on children’s lit, I think it would benefit from checking in with a Children’s literature expert. These books are written in a child’s perspective for children (not teenagers, or even tweens), so they are going to seem random or unpolished to us. For example, Felicity’s loose tooth getting so much attention in the book seems boring to adults, but is a way for modern children to relate to this character in a way they understand. And while the books were written in the 90s, children’s literature of that decade was still very color blind (not saying that’s okay, but it’s just how it is). These kinds of perspectives would help the hosts and listeners understand how children’s books are written.”
