AG as a fandom, who knew?
Receiving my Samatha doll was one of the best moments of my adolescence. I can remember it very vividly. I knew people loved American Girl. My friends and I all had one. But since “aging out” of dolls and toys I never revisited my love of American Girl, though Samatha is still tucked in my closet and comes out every now and again for a change of clothes and to have her hair brushed. This podcast has opened my eyes to just how far AG reached and how by today’s terms it would definitely be considered a fandom. I LOVE the way they talk about these books, I adore their historical expertise and how they frame these stories for the audience, and I can’t get enough of them nerding out over a past love I had almost forgotten. I have recaptured some of my childhood fun and I am eternally grateful for that.
