Mecha isn’t a “cool” genre. Code Geass, Full Metal Panic, Gundam, Neon Genesis Evangelion… Yes, these anime are successful and even well-liked. But that doesn’t mean the average fan loves Mecha in general. It’s a boring genre with little room to be unique and stand out, hence why so few are exciting at all. This is part of my belief why mecha anime is declining, both visibly and behind the scenes.
