ARC energy podcasts
I’ve enjoyed the energy podcasts very much, and find them very informative and interesting. After being in the energy industry for actually 30 years I would say there’s one area that needs to possibly be more deeply explored and that’s the area of competition. Over the years we’ve had a number of territorial groupings or small monopolies develop over a large number of industries. I think you can find this commonality in the legal profession, the accounting profession, the finance industry, the service industry, the tech industry and in just about every other service side related to Oil And Gas. But I think the real word here is competition we can rely less on the ability for oil price to just simply move up we have to have an entire industry that competes with the world. I believe we can do this however we cannot if we are not aware of it and not willing to participate in it that specific topic in each discipline we will be left behind. Each part of the industry has to build on a model of a efficiency not territorial control, in each area The industry has to provide their services at the most efficient rate not at the bloated rates they’ve achieved in the past due to controlling that particular sector or area of the Oil And Gas industry. The first rule of competition is that you must know your competitor and we have spent no time considering that the world is our competitor ....when it comes to oil and gas production. We have to “communicate better, and out compete our world competition and we have to be the most efficient in our industry or we will not survive we can no longer sit back and wait for oil prices to rise in order to hide our industries inefficiencies. Yes of course we need new pipe lines and world access I would say that’s quite obvious but there’s a much deeper line problem that we must deal with and that’s our competitiveness.
