Obviously not for everyone
But for anyone who is curious about how an important aria might be expressing more than just wonderful music, these podcasts should be wildly appreciated. Just listened to Queen of the Night, and when our soprano talks about what she feels about her character and how those feelings have changed now that she is a mother having vast control over her daughter speaks volumes about how performers create their roles. This is not mechanical Music 101. This is the combination of the composer’s original intent and today’s execution by accomplished artists. The first podcast for Traviata is still my favorite, but all have moved me and have given me deeper appreciation of the aria and the challenges of performing it. Bravi, bravi, bravi to all involved in the project.
