If you suspect you might like opera but had no “in”... here it is. Rhiannon is a delight and the commentary from her panel of experts is rewarding. It was nice to listen to the aria at the end and be like, ”wow this is the main character expressing a feeling I just had recently in my own life.” Also ironic to learn that an opera plot revolves around someone with TB, a disease of the lungs yet she still sings an aria. Suspension of belief indeed!

More reviews of Aria Code
I have attended operas for 50 plus years and have a decent collection of opera recordings. This series of podcasts has given me a completely new level of understanding and appreciation for some of my favorite arias. I really hope that more episodes will be produced after the initial set.

I get so happy when a new Aria Code shows up. Such a welcome break from news and politics and always just lovely music. Thanks!

Accessible to opera novices while still highly enjoyable for devotees. No, it doesn't delve deep into technical details, but it does a lovely job of elucidating and celebrating what makes opera opera: compelling stories and beautiful music.Read full review »
