Hey everyone, I’m your host Nolan Brewer and welcome to Artist's Corner! Today I’m joined by two special guests, Max Duggan and Rich Vreeland. Max Duggan is a video game composer, music producer, and songwriter. He’s been on the audio team for games such as Mini Metro, Outer Wilds: Echoes of The Eye, and is currently composing the soundtrack for the game Project Timi: Sasha’s Curse. Alongside his soundtracks, Max releases bodies of work as an indie singer-songwriter, such as his recent Sleepy Songs EP. Rich Vreeland, AKA Disasterpeace, is a film and video game composer, musician, and audio artist. Rich is known for his soundtracks to FEZ, Hyper Light Drifter, Mini Metro, It Follows, Marcel The Shell, and many more. Rich is also a prolific audio programmer known for designing procedurally generated music systems. I brought these two on together as they collaborated on the soundtrack of the game Mini Metro, as well as a multitude of other creative endeavors. Today we discuss their writing process on Mini Metro, procedurally generated music, how they work as a team, their different approaches to writing music, and much more.
