Suprisingly Poor
The print version of Asimov’s is outstanding. This podcast borders on terrible in comparison, and when compared to other science fiction podcasts. The audio quality is consistently poor. It sounds as though many of the narrators are reading into their phones, and we can frequently hear distracting noises. Each episode also starts, bizarrely, with a spoiler, in which a “host” tells us in advance what is going to happen. For example, the episode I just listened to starts with the narrator saying: “If you could virtually simulate any extraordinary life experience, would you go on a hike of Himalayan proportions? Or maybe just a hot date? Here’s the story of a man whose life changes up making a far more mundane choice, and upends his perception of reality in the process.” This seems to happen with most episodes and it is so completely unnecessary. I am already listening to the episode. Just tell me the story and let it unfold without ruining it for me!

However I am only five shows in starting from the...Read full review »
