There are plenty of white people religions that revere and utilize spirit guides that are animal in nature. Paganism, Celtic animism, Druidism,Wiccan… as well as several African religions and ancient Asian animal-based practices. So maybe we could inquire as to why a non-native American person feels that they have guidance or communication with an animal spirit before accusing them of appropriation. If they feel drawn to explore this aspect of spirituality maybe it would be an opportunity to guide them into something more culturally aligned with their heritage.
