“I stumbled across this podcast as part of some research I’m doing on cults and acting, but when that particular episode (with Lola Blanc, a fascinating lady whose own podcast, Trust Me, is also fantastic) ended, I kept binge listening to Audrey and there’s no sign I’m going to give my ears a break anytime soon. As an ex-actor, this show makes me nostalgic for my performing days, reminds me what I loved about being an actor, what I didn’t love so much, and also what’s so special about actors and acting that despite all the rejection and insecurity a big part of me still misses it. (Although not too much because now I’m a screenwriter so all the rejection and insecurity is still a constant of daily life… yay.)
Having said all that, this isn’t a podcast that only actors and creatives will get a huge amount out of; Audrey Helps Actors is also packed full of awesome inspirational advice and thoughtfulness about everything it takes to be a happy, focused, resilient and fulfilled human being. Audrey doesn’t just help actors, I believe most of the topics she covers and the learning and life experiences she and her guests share contains a mile-wide mother lode of wisdom for everyone. After all, acting is all about mining, discovering, and being excited by what it means to be human, and Audrey does it with so much knowledge, passion, fun and empathy that she’s just reminded me (during a pretty bleak period in my life) that being human is actually a pretty cool thing to be.”
