New Hosts Disappoint
I have historically always enjoyed this Podcast because I felt the hosts were knowledgeable, fair and thoughtful in their analysis of the topics being discussed. When they announced they were changing hosts, I was hesitant on how it might change the discussion. The most recent Podcast discussion with Frank Luntz and subsequent commentary was cringeworthy and hard to listen to. As a Canadian, I don’t have a voice in US elections but I recognize the impact US politics has on the world. Amanda’s disgust for Frank’s history in Republican politics was sizeable and while I can understand her opinion I don’t agree with how she conducted herself. I think it’s important to voice our opinions and feelings but being combative shuts down the conversation. When people we feel attacked it’s our natural instinct to be defensive and point the finger. Neither side is perfect and it was naive to expect an apology from Frank. Also would it have been all that constructive? Sure, you might have felt better but it wouldn’t fix the current divide that the US, and in turn the world, is facing. I would like to see more objective conversations in the future. That was the best part of listening to this podcast with its original hosts.

More reviews of Battleground with Amanda Litman and Faiz Shakir
First episode was excellent. Steve Schmidt doesn't mince words, but doesn’t mince them in a lyrically articulate and logical fashion. David Plouffe is a perfect partner to Schmidt.Read full review »

David and Steve each have the most important skill of a political consultant. Math. They know how to lookout the map, county by county, and instinctively understand where opportunities are (or aren’t). This makes it enormously instructive and fascinating. I’ve recommended this podcast to...Read full review »
