This latest podcast by World War One history presenter Mike Cunha, continues in his excellence on researching and presenting the great battles of World War I. Mike’s first podcast series on the Battle of Verdun was so successful in not only detailing the battles, the men and the generals on both sides, but more importantly painted a picture in words of the hell that the average front-line soldier of World War One had to endure. Mike is able to truly tell the stories of the men who lived and died in appalling conditions amidst the world of trenches, mud, rats, artillery fire and machine gun nests. Not only does Mike go into the detail of the men’s suffering, but he is able to bring his listeners in on an emotional level that is so important as we seek to always remember those that gave their ultimate sacrifice during World War One. In Mike’s new podcast, Mike is focusing now on the Battle of the Somme, the epic battle between the British and the French on the one side and the German army on the other side of the Somme River in northern France. It is not an understatement to say that Mike Cunha is one of the best podcast presenters on the First World War on the Internet today. I look forward to every new episode with great eagerness as there is always something new to learn about a war I have studied at length myself. I congratulate Mike on his previous series on the Battle of Verdun and urge all those interested in war history to listen to Mike’s podcast.

Always informative and accurate. I’m a WW1 history nut, and I learn something new each episode.

WW 1 is less reported that WW 2 and later wars. This podcast does a great job of detailing the war, its horrors and the heroism of the men who fought. Many lessons for us to learn. I am hooked and sending some $$ to support too.
