Is is okay to not be okay really
The episode titled You Are Allowed To Rest was the Is it okay to not be okay, really? talk that I have to give in two weeks in front of hundreds of women entrepreneurs at a conference. What she had to say felt like the universe said Yes Tracye you are on the right path. Women need to hear this message about taking care of yourself first and then serve. In 2017 I was so busy serving others that I had a mental break/psychosis. I even spoke out but my voice wasn’t loud enough and I wasn’t strong enough in my truth to stick to it and not budge. I went weeks without sleep. I lost 30 pounds. I lost all my executive and cognitive functions. I was almost hospitalized. I literally had nothing left. I lost my job, my friends, and almost my family. I’ve taken the past three years to find and speak my truth to anyone willing to listen and still I struggle with balance. I speak out when I’m not okay and not everyone is okay with that. Guess what it doesn’t matter what they think. My husband unfortunately sometimes doesn’t understand when I say I have nothing left to give. I need to rest. I can’t bring our 5 year old to the birthday party. I can’t see or speak to other people today. Can you help me? Well he doesn’t always say yes. So maybe she doesn’t get to go to the party or maybe I just say to the mom hey I’m not feeling well do you mind if I wait in the car is the answer. I feel like society in general says push yourself through it instead of it’s okay to not be okay. We as women entrepreneurs and influencers must speak out when we are not okay so that other people will feel comfortable to do the same. We have to do what’s best for us and forget about what society or our husbands or our jobs say. I promise a day off is better off than losing your job and not being able to work for 9 months or losing your family but if you have to lose everything to find your voice then so be it. Everything will be okay even if it doesn’t feel like it on the moment. Your podcast seems so inline with what my message is. I am so glad I found it. Thanks for speaking out on taking care of yourself and putting yourself first. I think I’m gonna go do a live and share all this that you have confirmed with your voice!
