“Listening to a bunch of easterners squabble that Yellowstone isn’t wild or wilderness is laughable. Over two million acres of backcountry of an intact ecosystem pre-European contact and harboring the most remote area one get from a road in the Lower 48. The majority of visitors to Yellowstone remain in the developed front country or less than 5% of the over 2 million acres. Furthermore, national parks can as be capitol W wilderness just as any of the other three federal public land agencies can have capitol W wilderness. Even more impressive is the wilderness also bordering and surrounding Yellowstone. Yellowstone is managed as wilderness, as are many other federal lands not officially designated by Congress and signed into law by the president as wilderness.”
