“Every time they drift into politics or make something political the show becomes insufferable. It isn’t even what side of the political spectrum they come from. I love thoughtful discussions on politics with conflicting expert opinions. It is that they are not experts on what they speak of politically, dismissive, and unwilling to have a conversation in good faith with any thoughtful analysis if it competes with their political views. I got the sense that Dr. Howk is unable to analyze anything political without showing her disgust and contempt. Then I jumped onto her twitter, and got confirmation of not only a mean spirited bias, but misinformation on covid, vaccines, masking, the war in Ukraine, anti trans humour, Hunter Biden laptop conspiracies and many other unsympathetic far right political talking points. ALL within the last week over Christmas Holidays. If I were reading her twitter opinions without a bio attached, I would misidentify her as an angry, snarky, chronically online teen who has an impulse control problem. Not a Dr who is giving advice on “finding happiness in the modern world”. It’s not that she is political on twitter, I have no problem with that. It’s the sarcastic spitefulness. The irritable political podcast market is saturated and I didn’t think that is what I was here to consume. Maybe they are trying to be controversial to grow their audience because that seems to work nowadays. It just seems like the further along the podcast has gone, they are losing touch with their mission statement.”
