“Love the podcast - always makes me chuckle. I enjoy the fact that you don’t agree on everything and there’s a bit of funny bickering.
My dad got done for speeding when I was Zia kid. He was driving hi my 2 bright red golf got home after work (he’d been running late to go out with my mum). He was really chucking the car around on the a286 from Milford to Haslemere - as you come into the village we lived in, the limit dropped from 60 to 30 in a dip in between a right to left switchback corner (imagine eau rouge and you’ll know what inl mean). The police would often hide in the lay-by for the village hall on the exit of the left handed about a hundred metres after the speed limit change. He was clocked at 66mph - and he was on the brakes! He reckons he must have been doing 85-90 mph at the time.
He had to go to court. The session was running late and he had an important meeting to get to afterwards - rather than being humble, he got strapped with the magistrates and said something along the lines of “as you know I’m a lawyer and I have to be somewhere, can you get on with it”. Let’s just say a two week ban got doubled, as did the fine! He was spitting nails when he got home - my mum who also worked was breathing fire, not at the magistrate but at him as it was such a pain in the backside having to do two school runs rather than the one, as mine took her in totally the wrong direction for work!”
