history is ugly and it needs to be told
i’ve learned more from this podcast than any american history class, which in itself says a lot.... this podcast manages to tell a violent, racist past while maintaining a sense of humor that helps to make the dark subject matter less depressing. i totally support replacing tear gas with calzones, and it’s light hearted stuff like that, balanced with thorough historical research that makes me look forward to every new episode. the hosts have a sense of outrage that is cathartic to listen to, and prop’s commentary is everything. (plus his music is amazing all of you ppl rating this podcast one star should really do yourselves a favor and check out his latest album!)

More reviews of Behind the Police
Too many funny asides, not enough really serious research. It’s setup is basically, fact, joke joke joke, fact without a lot of substance behind it. This podcast is great and timely but I think a few more weeks of research could have led to a much deeper, more insightful podcast.

I learned a lot from this podcast and I appreciate the information but each episode is 90 minutes and gives you about 30-40 minutes of actual knowledge. Podcasters that drone on and on make me crazy and the host of this show has a unique talent for dragging things out.
