“I started listening to this podcast a few months ago when it showed up on my recommended. I have listened to the same ones many times over and they never cease to inspire. I am an athlete who struggles with performance anxiety and unending self-criticism. Out all my time I sports, this podcast and others like it are one of the few things that get me out of my doubts and into the game.
Despite the many benefits, I have a subsequent warning. It is important to supplement these podcasts with other health podcasts (i.e., Huberman Lab, On Purpose with Jay Shetty) that stress the importance of rest. Due to the lack of acknowledgment of the need for rest, these motivational episodes could easily be manipulated to support “hustle culture”, which is infamous for its causation of burnout. I do not believe that the creator of this podcast or the original motivational speakers are intentionally endorsing hustle culture, for, if you listen closely, there are slight implications and mentions of the need for rest. Unfortunately these slight acknowledgments can often be drowned out in the push for hustle and are easily missed.
If you are reading this and are working towards anything from world domination to simply a promotion, remember one principle; Rest is often the greatest kind of progress.”
