“Ladies, I have listened to each episode and have been so thankful for your time and mission. I have but one request: please, please, please tread carefully with any conflation of “attention issues” and ADHD. Two of my children have ADHD (the correct identifier, all are ADHD with differing types) and we’ve had such struggles with bias. I firmly believe this is fueled by those without a medical or familial background, offering critical opinions. I was a full-time parent (all three of mine have left the nest for college and beyond) and made my children’s health my number one priority right down to serving fruits and vegetables out of our huge organic garden, only buying pasture-raised-and-harvested meats, etc. etc. I can’t tell you how hard it was to deal with bias in the schools and extended community when ADHD was mentioned. Thankfully my children rose above it, learned how to advocate for themselves, and are thriving in college despite all the side jabs that followed through the years. ADHD is a mental health condition with real neurological implications that target executive functioning in very real ways. Please do not lump it in with general “attention issues” that can manifest from everything from poor nutrition to sleep disorders and on, down the line. Thank you so much for your help in reducing casual, micro-hurts with real ramifications in this area. I know it is never your intention. I love you both! Best regards.”
