“I joke around that Martha Beck is my ‘spirit animal’ but in a way it’s not actually a joke. The things that Martha and Rowan speak about in this podcast stop me right in my tracks and I will sit here in stunned silence because I finally have two humans saying aloud what I’ve been thinking for years. I have never felt so understood. Sometimes while I’m listening I just want to shake my computer screen and scream “everything you’re saying is true!!!”
I did not have much context when I first began listening to this podcast so at first I felt a little lost, but after reading a number of Martha’s books and listening to more episodes I began to understand the jokes and history between the hosts. For anyone who feels a little out of the loop with their humor I encourage you to keep listening!
There is a perfect balance of silliness and serious in each episode, and I think that’s the best way to go when covering topics that are so bewildering! These two humans are reminding me that while culture can be baffling, adult life can actually be quite fun and full of wonder if I keeping coming back to my true nature.
I can not say enough good things. It is my favorite podcast. Thank you Martha and Rowan!”
