Description
Thousands of athletes worldwide were preparing for what should have been their career highlight. Competitions they had been training for not just weeks and months, but in some cases decades. Dreaming of the prospect of success, winning and gold. Then the pandemic hit and the world stood still – and sport with it. But that didn't mean all the hard work to achieve sporting dreams also had to stop. Hear the inside story of what it’s like for athletes and coaches when training, as they knew it, had to be reinvented. Heptathlete Niamh Emerson tells her story, and York-Peter Klöppel, Head of Mental Performance at the Red Bull Athlete Performance Center in Salzburg, Austria, shares insights on the psychological impact. See more from Niamh, as well as the stories of five other world-class athletes, in the film One Extraordinary Year, available now on Red Bull TV. Go to www.redbull.com/extrayear.
