“BBC Radio 4 Today programme has lost most of its credibility in my view so the podcast needs to shake that association and build something better. I haven’t heard anything yet which suggests this podcast will pick a great story before it happens and make proper edgy news. It is reflective, calm, careful (and caring) and well written but it’s not news.
Personally, I find the use of music is awful and telling. They use a technique where dark music precedes dark part of the story, sad music for sad parts etc. It is crude underlining of an emotion state as if they don’t think their story is strong enough.
I want #newsnotnoise - the team should look at Jessica Yellin’s Instagram account to see how 15 sec chunks make great reporting. Experts only please.”
