“If you’ll indulge me, I need to get some utterly baseless speculation off my chest. It always annoyed me that there was never a public explanation given for why the Rangers opted to buy out Henrik Lundvist’s contract last off season. It just happened and the team moved on, but the decision wasn’t revisited much (if at all) publicly by Gorton or JD. Any chance that what was seemingly shoddy treatment of the greatest Ranger of all time left a poor taste with ownership and contributed to their dismissals?
