“I love books. Buy them, read them, love them.
So I’m eager for good podcasts on the topic.
This is not a good podcast on the topic. It’s like a late-night coffee shop convo between two sophomores on a first date. Thrilling for the participants, as they strive with loud, confident voices to one-up each other in their political correctness, boring for the adults in the next booth.
In one episode, the hosts brand Orson Scott Card a “douchebag” for expressing an “objectionable” opinion—but think it’s cute that Hunter S. Thompson “sank nearly all the boats” in a local marina. Card is also outed as a Mormon. Oh, gasp. Never mind the fact that for every boat the gonzo journalist sank, some family is tasked with raising the boat, draining and cleaning it, and trying to get the power plant to work again. Never mind the battery acid and fossil fuels that cute little “character” released into the water with his adorable antics. The ignorance and smug superiority of the hosts is sickening.
And you should hear the torment over “gender inequality” in publishing and reviews. Mainly, “old white dudes” are horrible. Horrible, I tell you!
Etc. etc. etc. etc.
I wish someone would apply the excellent technical standards of this cast to something with a bit more intelligence and maturity. No, a LOT more intelligence and maturity.
Fail.”
