My go to podcast. Informative, well-researched and entertaining. My only complaint is there should be more episodes and I hope they do Chronicles and maybe Acts at some point. Top-notch!

5 stars. Thanks for putting forth a well-researched and well-presented show. I enjoy your moral and theological developments such as the episode I just listened to in which you present Jeroboam's life as a cautionary tale against our own interior contradictions or hubris. Still, the...Read full review »

Great to hear a podcast that is accurate and brings in as much outside info as is available. Also great that they are so honest about discrepancies or things that seem questionable or inaccurate. Thanks guys!

My podcast library is full of history casts, and religion casts. Book of Kings brings my two interests together in a fascinating way. This is the cure to absurd History Channel attempts to debunk the biblical narrative, or surround it with silly conspiracies. The hosts, both of whom are...Read full review »

First off, love the podcast and have loved it for years. Second, to provide what I was taught while growing up (make of it what you will), I was always taught the the Old Testament books are in the order they are in (at least broadly speaking) because they are by genre. First, the Law. Next,...Read full review »

This podcast is extremely thorough and thought out. The gentlemen presenting the information are well educated, well prepared for discussions, and discourse in a manner that is largely lost in todays society. Excellent scholarly discussions that are faith based and historically and...Read full review »

If you’re a Christian, and a history buff, this is the podcast for you. It’s so good, I’m listening to all of them a second time. As someone that grew up in the church, I’d always glossed over this section of the Bible, but as you’ll see in this podcast, there is both incredibly rich history...Read full review »

With the explosion of history podcasts, I’m so glad these two decided to bring the world of Bible scholarship and biblical narrative to life. Their episodes are informative, encouraging, and entertaining. I do wish they incorporated more patristic commentary, but that is only a small tweak to...Read full review »

If you’re looking for a better understanding of the historical context of the Old Testament (the Books of Kings in particular, obviously) you won’t find a better podcast. They also explain how many events allude to the New Testament. Caleb and Ian do such a great job of explaining the stories...Read full review »

I love hearing about the history of empires, city states and the Bible all tied into one. These men are obviously well researched and passionate about this project, and present it in a relatively easy format to digest. I hope that they press forward with other Books of the Bible.

I came across this podcast on social media. I love the bible, and I love listening to people who can illuminate the cultural, historical, and geopolitics of the era that the bible was written in. For me, it brings the scripture to life. I have shared this podcast with several of my friends who...Read full review »

I love this narrative historical look at the Kings of Israel. It gives such a clear view of the context for the events recorded in 1&2 Kings. It’s helpful in understanding the political motives of the characters. Great work!

Putting the Kings in their place in history. Great job, Ian and Caleb! Love hearing about the context for these great stories of the kings of Israel and Judah. It brings them to life as real people, not two dimensional characters. Love also how the politics and geopolitical surroundings are...Read full review »

A remarkable podcast, connecting both archeological and historical findings to the Biblical texts of the Book of Kings and Chronicles. Many Christians today believe that most of the Old Testament ist not to be read literally, but more symbolically. This podcast provides a new perspective and...Read full review »

I love to listen to these 2 great historians discuss the historical stories I read in the Bible in greater detail. I like the Game of Thrones-style music to open and close the episodes, too.

These guys are engaging and informative! Hearing the stories of these kings in the wider historical context has made them more real to me and more exciting to read. I have really enjoyed the episodes that are out and I’m looking forward to what comes out in the future!

This podcast is excellent to say the least, the hosts go into great details about the political machinations and maneuvers that the Bible doesn't go into, but they especially dive deep into the details that ARE present in the Bible. They also go into the historical evidence where they get...Read full review »

Long overdue premise. The Bible, whether you are Christian or not, is the most important work in the western world.
