Bookworm is delightfully quirky and engaging
I wasn’t sure about Bookworm at first, but after a few listens, I really appreciated the host, Michael Silverblatt’s subtle insights into a range of authors’ work and their personalities. I think the breakthrough episode for me was his interview with Isabel Allende: In the Midst of Winter. It was such a different take to that of the Australian ABC RN’s Bookshelf. Both were excellent in their own right, but Greenblatt’s was compelling listening. Isabel Allende: In the Midst of Winter Storytelling queen Isabel Allende wrote a time-crossing, culture-hopping chamber piecethat gives faces to immigration during these dark times for literature, In the Midst of Winter.

David Duchovny, Princeton lit grad, protege of H Bloom, and whose father was a Hebrew scholar, writes a book about a Mormon fanatic and has no idea what Gnosticism is. Curious. Michael gently but with some impatience explains it to him.
