Description
Hour 1 We’re used to Feel Good Fridays around here but today is a Feel Good Monday with the Rangers advancing, the Knicks taking a 3-1 series lead and the Mets and Yankees both winning on Sunday. Jalen Brunson and Boomer’s guy Precious Achiuwa were big factors in the Knicks win. Tom Thibodeau has pushed all the right buttons in this series and proven all the doubters wrong. Gio says Joel Embiid is like a boxer who knows he is about to get knocked out so he starts to fight dirty. Embiid’s reputation has taken a tremendous hit in this series. Boomer is happy and giddy today. Boomer says Jalen Brunson’s game 4 was a top 5 Knicks playoff performance of all-time. Boomer expects a big change for the Rangers if they play the Hurricanes in the second round. CLo is in for Jerry today and is here for his first update. The Knicks took a 3-1 lead in Philly with plenty of Knicks fans in the building and the style of play reminded Boomer and Gio of the 90s. Boomer says Brunson also reminds him of Walt “Clyde” Frazier. The Knicks finally have “the guy” in Jalen Brunson and nobody saw that coming. Gio says Joel Embiid is a losing player and Boomer says he is closer to a whiner than a winner. Boomer isn’t  happy about a tweet from WIP. Artemi Panarin’s PP goal was the winner as the Rangers swept the Capitals. In the final segment of the hour, Gio shares how he was a guest bartender during the Knicks game and the crowd was awesome while Boomer discusses final preparations for the bike race this Sunday. Hour 2 Gio asks Boomer if he’d rather see the Hurricanes have a long series against the Islanders or win game 5 and have a similar amount of time off as the Rangers. Boomer points out that the favorites are dominating in the Eastern Conference playoffs as the Islanders will try to buck that trend. Boomer and Gio can’t wait to see how the Garden crowd treats Embiid tomorrow. Nick Nurse, Joel Embiid and the Sixers have classic loser’s mentality. This is a throwback series because of how much these teams dislike each other. Gio says Richard Jefferson is a clear Knicks hater on the broadcast but Boomer isn’t so sure. CLo returns for an update and starts with Jalen Brunson giving credit to his teammates defense rather than his offense in Sunday’s win. Brunson has Boomer so excited he’s thinking about Mark Messier. Kevin Durant and the Suns got swept. The Rangers are onto round 2. Would Boomer go to an Islanders playoff game? Mark Vientos walked it off for the Mets. In the final segment of the hour, the guys discuss how Knicks and Rangers fans traveled well in the first round. Hour 3 Daniel Jones will be the Giants starter this season. Gio says he’s prepared for the situation because of the uncertainty he dealt with before proving himself in 2022. Boomer and Gio agree that the Giants will need a little more leadership from Jones this season. They could end up in QB no-man’s land after this year. CLo returns for an update but first we hear from a caller who admits to Boomer he was wrong last week. Jalen Brunson commented on the crowd and Tom Thibodeau got back on track after almost sounding like he was taking a victory lap too early. Mark Vientos walked-it off for the Mets. The Yankees scored 15 runs for the second game in a row and Aaron Judge homered in both games. In the final segment of the hour, we wonder if Daniel Jones can win comeback player of the year this NFL season. The Rangers have what it takes to win. Hour 4 It’s natural for Knicks and Rangers fans to think ahead right now. The Bucks are dealing with injuries so it looks like the Pacers will advance. Boomer expects to see Filip Chytil back for the Rangers in the second round. We get more details of how Knicks fans took over Philly but did they cross a line? Boomer has some big show announcements. He has extended his contract with Audacy, our agreement with CBS Sports Network has been extended and Boomer has stepped away from The NFL Today.
