“I previously thought there may have been something of substance on this podcast, but clearly I’ve been proven wrong. Although not explicitly stated, the “stumbling block” was an implicit religious assumption about god existing and free will being necessary for his rewards or punishments. Next, imagine requiring bacteria having the clarity of mind to make choices so evolution could take place. The absurdity is ridiculous, and if there was any clarification to be had on these points, no attempt was made. This discussion has seriously destroyed all respect I had towards Bret as a credible scientist and intellectual. I can’t invest my time in this kind of fundamental incompetence.”
