“I was just listening to the new podcast with Rouzita Rashtian DDS and I would like to see the research supporting her statement that night time breast feeding leads to tooth decay. I breast fed my twins for more than three years and for their first year and a half I breastfed multiple times during the night. They never rinsed their mouth out after. They are eight now and still have great teeth (which does not run in my family..I had a lot of tooth decay as a child). There are so many benefits to breastfeeding including establishment of a healthy microbiome. While it is a personal decision that every mother must make I do not think that fear of tooth decay is a reason to reduce or terminate breastfeeding. Again if there is research to support her claim I would like to see it!”
