Eye Opening
California Love is an honest, first person narrative about social injustice, friendship, heartache and a reminder that beneath our surfaces, people are complicated, filled with a mix of pain and longing to be understood. Should be required listening for all white people. Mr. Thompson-Hernandez’ voice and the cadence of his words are easy to listen to especially in contrast to the shrill, angry voice of Joe. But Joe’s vulnerability and pain are carefully revealed. The back and forth in time enriches and adds texture to this account of Mr. Thompson-Hernandez’ childhood. look forward to more episodes.
