“This podcast is important, I’m glad I found it. I just listened to the episode about Arizona. Yes, crisis response is great but what I’d like to see change is the treatment when people go inpatient. My personal experience with a Banner Health hospital for mental health was awful. I was treated like a criminal then met with a psych for maybe 5 minutes before he wanted to put me on 2 different medications. No therapist, no type of counseling. Just, “this is what’s wrong with you now take these.” It was sad inside, the nurses barely checked on us. No encouragement to join group therapy. It just felt like a waiting period to fill a legal obligation before they just let you go. When I was discharged no one walked me out and waited with me for my ride. With a non mental health patient they’re wheeled out and someone waits with them. Literally no one cared. I felt like a task on a check list.”
