Needed Pushback.
Conservatives (be they fiscal, social, political) frequently lack the imagination to be effective evangelists for their cause. There is a role for the rhapsodizer of straight-dealing and straight-thinking in the free market. I wish David well in his endeavor. I think his greatest challenge will be sufficiently making his case to people who are not invested in the stock market and believe it is “rigged” to work exclusively for the rich. It is a powerful narrative and one that is occasionally re-enforced with fact. I hope David has the courage and brains to sketch out a compassionate conservatism of just dealings in the marketplace. If he does this well, he’ll strike that golden-mean: pissing off just as many powerful, wealthy, establishment types as he does “eat the rich” avidites. “The failure of this experiment of communal service, which was tried for several years, and by good and honest men proves the emptiness of the theory of Plato and other ancients, applauded by some of later times, — that the taking away of private property, and the possession of it in community, by a commonwealth, would make a state happy and flourishing; as if they were wiser than God.” ― William Bradford, Of Plymouth Plantation Godspeed David, and God save our republic.

I loved the conversation with Art Laffer! This has quickly become my favorite podcast on markets.

I’ve only listened to episode #1 but if the quality of the guests (Hassett was great) and the level of discussion can be maintained this can be one of the best economics/finance/markets podcasts out there.
