“Love these episodes, especially after a game. It’s a post-game show to their tv post-game show. Rob is the ‘voice’ of the fan, talking/asking questions about things I’m thinking about/what I want to hear (as a fan) Alan, as an ex-NHL player is the ‘voice’ of the X’s & O’s & provides player perspective. And it’s always great fun to witness the (sometimes) push-pull banter of what each believes should be at the forefront of the conversation. Rob sinks his teeth into the ‘stories’ and ‘story lines’ whereas Alan could care less about those things when he (rightly) fires up & feels the refs really screwed up, or how the NHL is ruining hockey w/ the snowflake rulings/mentality, etc. Always funny, entertaining, yet informative.
(PS- I’m often torn between whose ‘side’ I’m on during these ‘battles’ - As a fan I really appreciate what Rob focuses on, but... because I’m a retired police officer, I often find myself empathizing a lot with Alan because of his ‘ex-player card’. If you haven’t played the sport (for me-if you haven’t put on a uniform) you can’t understand the brother(sister)hood of the locker room (for me-roll call room). There’s an intangible, hard to describe, kind of sacred ‘thing’ that just happens over the years of being in these rooms and you are forever bonded with the people who are in it with you (whether you like it (or every person) or not.”
