Culture of Secrecy: In Conversation with Luke Lamprecht
Listen now
Description
Over the years, Carte Blanche has done several investigations into alleged child sexual abuse at various elite boys’ schools across the country. Our focus was primarily on several sports coaches who are either currently facing allegations of child grooming and sexual assault, or have been prosecuted. One thing that was seen in all our investigations was the culture of secrecy that so often prevents victims from speaking out against their abuser. Masa Kekana sits down with Luke Lamprecth from Women and Men Against Child Abuse to gain more insight into why paedophiles often choose aquatic sports to gain access to their young victims, what schools can do to ensure career paedophiles aren’t able to move from one school to the next, and why parents should also guard themselves from being groomed.
