Almost nailed it.
I would give the story being told a 5-star. As a native son of Atlanta, I have never heard of this piece of Atlanta’s history. I’ve listened to the first 6 episodes, and the story is engaging and seemingly an important part. I appreciate the amount of research the narrator put into understanding the story. However, the story telling aspect is severely lacking and is borderline ruining the story. The narrator uses an awkward audio filter when reading old headlines, engages cheesy audio drops from time to time, and goes off on rabbit trails often that consume time but lead to nothing. In one episode, there was a 15 minute story about the funeral of a confederate general in Atlanta, but never seemed to tie back to the story being told. In another episode, the narrator discussed a Halloween costume worn in college and how ashamed he was that he wore it, but again, this isn’t part of the story. It feels like the narrator wants to talk about himself as part of the story somehow, leading to unnecessary commentary. The story has so much potential, but it just isn’t there.

Wow
I’m only a few episodes in & I’m already hooked. BT is one of best storytellers I’ve listened to. Can’t wait to keep listening to find out where how this ends.

Just lites to the first four episodes and can wait to hear the next installment. Can you “BINGE listen “ to a...Read full review »
