Parimita Mohanty, Renewable Energy Programme Management Officer at UNEP Asia Pacific Office, joined us to discuss "Women in Renewable Energy for Sustainable development". We discussed reasons why women are under-represented in decision-making processes related to resource management and environment. We clarified how women’s vulnerability to climate change in the developing world is exacerbated. We then pin-pointed career initiation and advancement barriers that women face in the renewable energy sector. We also talked about the trendy but controversial gender quotas and expressed our raw opinions on them!
