Good to Hear Joey on Lowell George
I enjoyed hearing Joey, of whom I’ve been a fan since the first Bros. Landreth album, talk about his admiration for Lowell George. I’ve played a few Little Feat songs in bands over the years starting with Willin’ in the early 70s. One small correction: Joey seemed to saying it was difficult to play Dixie Chicken in open C even though it’s structurally the same as open A. Obviously, the position makes a difference. The signature lick is played around the 12th fret as I recall. However, open C, played two whole steps down from open E, is 1 5 1 3 5 1, while open A is 5 1 5 1 3 5. Both have a major chord on the top three strings but they’re in the perfect order in open A (or G) that fits Little Feat songs so well.

I'm a semi-pro/intermediate guitar player and always enjoyed Andy Ellis' lessons in various guitar magazines. Andy always gave you the WHY as well as the HOW in guitar instruction. His writing was engaging and his prose inviting making you WANT to play guitar. . .Read full review »
