Starting Friday, citizens of Malaysia, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain will no longer need visas to enter China for visits of no more than 15 days. Why didn’t Beijing introduce the policy sooner? What benefits can it generate apart from attracting more tourists? And what’s the other side of the coin?
