Mark Milley is the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of America. It was revealed in a new book that in the last days of the Donald Trump presidency he made two backchannel calls to China's General Li which Milley initiated due to intelligence suggesting China believed that Donald Trump was going to attack them. Milley sought to calm China by reassuring it that the US was not considering a strike. "General Li, you and I have known each other for five years now. If we're going to attack, I'm going to call you ahead of time . It's not going to be a surprise. It's not going to be a bolt out of the blue," Milley said This revelation shocked the world, and not least the US politics. Donald Trump was furious and said this was fake news.
