Description
CIBC Mellon’s Q in Review highlights industry trends and regulatory developments impacting the client segments that we service across Canada. In this episode, Mary Ann Mackenzie, Vice President, Relationship Management, and Richard Videvik, Assistant Vice President, Relationship Management, present a review of the quarter’s top announcements, summarize key developments, and market momentum, and opine on the future outlook for clients, stakeholders and the Canadian financial services industry. This quarter, Mary Ann and Richard begin with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization’s (CIRO) first set of annual priorities. The regulator states that its strategic priorities reflect its ongoing commitment to investor protection and market integrity, while operating in an efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable manner. They also discuss the move to SEDAR+, the Canadian Securities Administrators’ web-based technology platform, which launched on July 25, 2023, and they review the Canadian Capital Markets Association’s (CCMA) T+1 Technical Readiness Update.   The episode closes with a look at the International Sustainability Standards Board’s (ISSB’s) issuance of its sustainability disclosure standards. The standards, IFRS S1 and IFRS S2, are designed to provide a global baseline of sustainability-related disclosures for capital markets.
