Description
Join us as Prof. Will Shih speaks with hosts, Dr Nadia Schadlow and Pavneet Singh, about the link between manufacturing and innovation. Prof. Shih explains how capital markets in the past had exported most manufacturing. He then explains that  this separation of design from manufacturing has harmed innovation. As example, Dr. Shih explains the history behind the growth of Taiwan's successful semiconductor foundry capacity and the vulnerabilities that history may pose for the United States today. Dr. Shih also warns of the corrosive effects of subsidies and urges the US to adopt policies that would attract the best this industry can produce.  Please visit https://mitre-engenuity.org/circuit-talk for more information.  Music provided by bensound.com
