80s child nostalgia
I’m really enjoying listening to the back catalogue of this podcast. I think it helps that I’m of a similar age as the hosts and therefore have similar levels of nostalgia for films from the 80s and 90s, many of which I saw at the same point of my life. For example, I loved the episode featuring Santa Claus the Movie which has always been one of my favourite films, but is usually only referenced scathingly in modern pop culture. I sometimes find the winners of the battles quite baffling (yawnfest Deep Impact beating Armageddon?!) but each to their own. Its also quite fun looking back over childhood favourites with a 2020s perspective and realising quite how problematic some of the films we watched as kids were. I’m always impressed with the level of research around the films, particularly by Chris and Alex, and the interesting stories about the films’ production and alternative cast/script options which were considered at the time.

Great podcast. Fantastic listen. Good insight from both Vicky and Chris held together by the very good hosting and fandom of Alex Zane. Film fans need this in you life. Especially if you are all in ;-)

You feel more like you are listening in on a lively, and maybe drunken, pub chat about movies. I also give Chris Thrilly 6 stars because he is the one that reads these...Read full review »
