Memories
I have been listening to this podcast for years, and never wrote a review, although it has been hugely meaningful in my life, helping me through some of the darkest moments. After spending 6 years studying mathematics in college and considering an academic career, I was forced to make a quick pivot into the industry. Although the degree was hyped up to open doors almost anywhere, I found myself struggling to find a job. With only a few months of expenses remaining on my account, no relatives to help and no plan B, I decided that programming would be my best bet, and went all in. That’s when I found this podcast. For months, I was ferociously studying, writing and reading code, grinding algorithmic problems. And when I was tired and couldn’t go on anymore, I had a break and listening to Michael, Joe and Allen always lifted my mood. I felt less alone in this. Like I had friends and mentors guiding me in my effort. And when I inevitably failed an interview and felt like life is not worth living, somebody in the Slack community was always ready to talk. On one episode, the guys mentioned something along the lines that books like Clean Code are way more useful that computer science theory in practice. So I read the book, took notes, and listened to the episodes dedicated to it multiple times. As luck would have it, one day, I was interviewed by a big Bob Martin fan, we had a good friendly conversation about the book, and I got the job. It turned out to be a great workplace full of amazing people, and I am still working there today, several years later. I apologize for my English and long-winded review, but I just wanted to let you know your show means a lot to me. You changed my life.

These podcasters are great. They actually talk about useful stuff. They discuss modern technologies, tools, and best practices; it’s obvious that they are working in the industry. I like to listen to this show while I walk my dogs. Real code. No cruft. Intelligent discussion. Humor. What more do...Read full review »

Just listened to episode 14 and a few others; very informative and thoroughly enjoyable. I am from Java realm, but the discussion is very relevant. I’d recommend this to my friends and colleagues. Guys, keep up the good work!
