“Over the last two years I have been listening to a wide variety of Hearthstone podcasts, and while there are several that are excellent, I can wholeheartedly state that if one were forced to choose amongst them, Coin Concede would almost certainly be the show deserving of what for many is inevitably limited content consumption bandwidth.
Other Hearthstone podcasts may be a bit funnier (looking at you 1600 Dust), yet Coin Concede has me laughing out loud almost every episode; while certain others may be a bit more … “wholesome” (hello Happy Hearthstone), yet the Coin Concede hosts come off as principled-but-relatable gamers broadly committed to laudable humanitarian ideals with an acute sensitivity to those issues most relevant to their audience and the gaming community in general.
The show’s format is disciplined without being unduly rigid. The analysis is accurate, tight, timely, and insightful—yet still eminently accessible. The delivery is measured, with plenty of interesting color commentary, and the show is skillfully edited. All three hosts bring a unique perspective, and they have somehow hilariously managed to sort themselves into the show’s id, ego, and superego. The banter and comradery may not always be coruscating, but the sense of friendship and community between the hosts, guests, and listeners produces a total podcast experience much greater than the sum of the individual content components. If podcasts and Hearthstone intersect in your life at all, start here—you’ll be intensely glad you did.”
