great interviews of musicians by someone who understands music
most music interviews are by professionals that frankly don’t understand music. most journalists are english or poly sci majors, etc. what is great about joseph is he is a musician himself that had his own success with a solo career. he knows his stuff, has impeccable taste, and great insight. he asks smart questions and gets things out of artists you don’t hear in other formats, because he understands the industry and process. not a fan of his covid comments, and seems closed-minded to other points of view when it comes to culture/ politics, but then again he’s not a political scientist or scholar, so its easy to ignore and doesn’t come up too much like it does on joe rogan which has essentially become a political talk show. he keeps it about the music and universal human experiences. overall well-meaning and compassionate. refreshing when theres so many podcasts out there that seem to be angry. hope he makes more! mark lanegan podcast is the best interview i ever seen of mark.
