“If you’re a Peloton fanatic - especially one involved in the various sub-groups- this is the podcast for you. You’d likely be familiar with at least one, if not all of the moderators, as well as the various personalities who chime in. This only enhances the sense of community that is the cornerstone of Peloton’s success and a huge part of what makes most of us fanatical. It’s light, fun, and everyone shares the same frame of reference. Ironically enough, many of these qualities, are also its weaknesses. Over time, it’s the same characters, the same topics, the same jokes, and I can’t imagine how this podcast could be attractive to the ordinary listener who is part of this in group. Overall as much as I WANT to LOVE it, I’m not sure that the clubhouse format translates well into a podcast and can be alienating to those of us who haven’t drunk the Kool-aid. The more difficult aspects of this podcast for me is that primarily based on 1) pure speculation and 2) the anxiety that those who LOVE this brand have. Everyone has strong opinions that they deliver authoritatively but rarely any real insider information or facts like other Peloton-related equals. The format is often “should Peloton do this?” or “is this where Peloton is going?” and the speculation ensues. Often, it’s just venting- which, tbh, is inevitable in Pelo-land. Anyone who loves this brand is anxious about its future and naturally, this comes through in each episode. But the rollercoaster of anxiety is ridiculous, if not schizophrenic. Case in point: after WEEKS of excitement about the prospect of a rower, once the preview dropped, the next episode was “do we need another piece of equipment?” What?! Sometimes I just can’t with this podcast but I listen every week because I really, really want to. John, in particular, is the loveliest man. But this should probably remain on clubhouse if this is the format they’re wed to.”
