Description
Garry Trudeau is the American cartoonist behind Doonesbury, a comic strip that appears in nearly 1,100 newspapers around the world. Since the cartoon first appeared in 1970, Mr. Trudeau’s work has been collected in over 60 books. In 1975, he became the first comic strip artist to receive a Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning. He was finalist for the prestigious award again in 1989, 2004, and 2005. He has written and produced for television and stage, including both an animated special and a Broadway musical version of his Doonesbury cartoon. Mr. Trudeau has contributed articles to publications including Harper’s, Rolling Stone, The New Republic, The New Yorker, New York and The Washington Post. He holds an MFA from Yale University, along with more than 30 honorary doctorate degrees, and has been inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
